“Interview of a Detroit” blog post took me on a journey of a young southern couple’s Pilgrimage to Detroit in the mid-1960s and their experiences onto more recent times. Ms. C.J.’s who was being interviewed described hope and disappointment as her experiences of Detroit that has taken place during a 40yr period of time. The couple had great hopes and dreams when first moved to Detroit in the 60’s and obtained them by working the in booming automotive industry and enjoying the vibrant business community that was comprised of many African American businesses.
“Detroit in the Lime Light” blog post was different because it linked ethnic foods such as Greek cuisines, Polish cuisines and the Eastern Market with its many specialty food products with Detroit’s hope for a better day. I found this blog insightful and inspiring for Metro Detroit’s like me that there’s hope for Detroit if you look for it. The description of the many cultures projected the city with a positive imagery. I have to admit the references of all the food made me a little hungry and the reference of the Eastern Market made me won’t to visit it soon with my children. I guess Detroit still has much to offer.
